Why Nick Jonsson Continues to Invest in Learning While Speaking Around the World
Why I Continue to Invest in Learning While Speaking Around the World
During my recent North America speaking tour, I decided to continue investing in my own development and upskill myself in Canada by completing the Group Facilitation Methods In-Person (GFMIP) certification with ICA Associates Inc. in Edmonton.
One of my strongest beliefs is that learning never stops.
As a speaker, executive coach, and facilitator, I believe that growth is not something we talk about - it is something we actively live. My favourite form of education is what I call “edutainment” - learning through experiences, conversations, travel, workshops, and meaningful human connection while doing work around the world.
Too often, leaders stop learning once they reach a certain level of success. I believe the opposite should happen. The more responsibility we carry, the more intentional we need to become about our own development.
The Group Facilitation Methods certification focused on participatory leadership, collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and structured facilitation techniques designed to create a culture of participation within teams and organizations.
What stood out most to me was the emphasis on creating environments where every voice matters. In today’s workplace, leadership is no longer about commanding from the top. It is about facilitating conversations, creating psychological safety, encouraging contribution, and helping teams move toward alignment and action together.
This experience strengthened my capabilities in:
Group Facilitation
Workshop Facilitation
Participatory Leadership
Team Alignment
Consensus Building
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborative Decision-Making
Communication & Engagement
These skills directly support the work I do globally through keynote speaking, executive coaching, leadership workshops, and transformational team experiences focused on Holistic Leadership, psychological safety, and high-performing cultures.
One of the greatest lessons from this experience is that the best leaders remain students.
No matter how many stages we stand on, books we write, or people we coach, there is always another level of growth available if we remain humble enough to learn.
I am grateful to ICA Associates Inc., trainer Robin Parsons, and everyone involved in creating such a practical and impactful learning experience.
The journey continues.
