Nick Jonsson Featured on Online Success Journey: When You Reach the Top and Find Nothing There

Nick Jonsson, Founder of Limitless, bestselling author of Executive Loneliness, accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, joined Patience Nyesigire on the Online Success Journey podcast for a conversation about what he found when he got everything he had been working toward.

Hosted by Patience Nyesigire from London, Online Success Journey has run since 2016 and now has more than four hundred episodes. The show looks at entrepreneurs' journeys in the rear-view mirror, with an interest in the speed bumps and detours rather than the highlight reel. Patience has been clear from the start that she wanted to explore success in a wider sense than the financial one, which makes this a natural conversation for Nick.

His route was unusual. He began as a construction painter in Sweden, moved to Australia alone, and worked his way up to running companies across Asia. Every external marker arrived on schedule. The promotions, the results, the title.

What arrived with them was isolation. Nick describes how the drive that carried him up was built on proving himself, and how that leaves you with no way to stop. He had colleagues everywhere and nobody he could be honest with, and alcohol became the way he managed the gap between how things looked and how they felt.

The turnaround came through asking for help, which he had never learned to do. He has been sober since 2018, and now works with senior leaders on executive loneliness, having found that roughly one in three experience some version of it.

For an audience of entrepreneurs, the useful part is the reframe. Nick's argument is not that ambition is the problem. It is that building toward a definition of success that only measures output leaves you with nothing to stand on when the output stops being enough.
