Artificial intelligence is transforming the way organisations lead and perform. It can analyse information in seconds, produce drafts in minutes and support decisions at a speed no team can match. Yet technology alone has never created a high-performing team, and it never will.

That conviction sits at the heart of Leading High-Performing Teams in the AI Era, a programme taking place on 23 and 24 November 2026 at The Ritz-Carlton in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It brings together two complementary perspectives, harnessing the power of AI and building the human leadership that AI cannot replace, with Nick Jonsson focusing on the human side.

The programme's key message is simple: AI provides the capability, and leadership unlocks the people.

Why Technology Alone Will Never Create High-Performing Teams

Organisations are investing heavily in AI, and rightly so. But the qualities that make a team exceptional are human ones: trust, purpose, clarity, accountability and resilience. No tool can build them on a leader's behalf.

Nick understands this from experience. After a successful corporate career in senior executive roles across Asia, he went through executive burnout and a long road to recovery. Rebuilding his life taught him that sustainable performance depends on the whole person, not just the professional role. Today he is a Top 2% World IRONMAN athlete, and the lessons from that journey became the Five Steps to Holistic Leadership™: Surrender, Purpose, Connection, Goals and Discipline.

The programme uses these five steps as a practical roadmap for leading people well in an AI-enabled workplace.

Building Human Leadership That AI Cannot Replace

Step 1: Surrender

Great leadership begins with leading yourself before leading others. Surrender is about letting go of the limiting beliefs, ego and outdated leadership habits that hold leaders back, and developing genuine self-awareness through honest reflection.

AI can support this process when it is used well. As a thought partner, it can help leaders challenge their own assumptions and broaden their perspective. Participants are introduced to Geoff Woods' CRIT Framework, which stands for Context, Role, Interview and Task. Its most powerful element is the interview: rather than the leader simply questioning the AI, the AI is asked to question the leader first, surfacing assumptions and blind spots before any task begins.

Step 2: Purpose

Purpose is about creating meaning beyond KPIs. In this step, participants develop their own Leadership Purpose and Leadership Compass, and explore how to align their personal values with organisational goals.

Purpose also clarifies what should never be delegated to AI. When leaders know what they stand for, they can decide with confidence which work belongs to technology and which must remain in human hands. The result is leadership grounded in purpose, integrity and authenticity.

In a practical exercise, participants develop their Leadership Purpose and identify the leadership habits that will help them lead high-performing teams in the AI era.

Building High-Performing Teams That AI Cannot Replace

Step 3: Connection

High-performing teams are built on trust and authentic relationships. Connection focuses on creating psychological safety, coaching with empathy and curiosity, and strengthening communication and collaboration across the team.

A simple principle guides this step: AI prepares the conversation, but leaders build the relationship. Technology can help a leader plan what to say. Only the leader can create the trust that makes people willing to speak up, contribute and give their best.

Step 4: Goals

Goals bring clarity, accountability and alignment. This step focuses on turning strategy into execution and aligning individual performance with team performance.

AI can play a valuable role in supporting planning, but leaders retain the judgement. Deciding what matters, weighing trade-offs and holding people accountable remain leadership responsibilities.

In a practical exercise, participants apply the Five Steps to solve a real leadership challenge and strengthen their team's performance.

Sustaining High Performance

Step 5: Discipline

Discipline is what turns insight into lasting change. This final step focuses on building the habits that sustain high performance, leading with consistency under pressure, and making reflection, accountability and continuous improvement part of everyday leadership.

It also includes developing a healthy relationship with technology. In an always-on, AI-enabled world, leaders set the tone for their teams, and leading by example every day matters more than any policy.

Leading Teams Through Change

Continuous transformation places real pressure on people. The programme explores how leaders can help their teams navigate uncertainty with confidence, maintain engagement through ongoing change and build resilience in an AI-enabled workplace. The goal is a culture of ownership, innovation and continuous learning, where change becomes something the team leads rather than something that happens to it.

Your 90-Day Leadership Action Plan

The programme is designed to create change that continues long after the session ends. Every participant leaves with:

•     Their personal High-Performance Leadership Blueprint

•     A practical 90-day leadership action plan

•     Immediate actions to strengthen trust, engagement and team performance

Bringing AI Capability and Human Leadership Together

The programme closes with key reflections from participants, bringing AI capability and human leadership together into one picture, followed by personal commitments and next steps.

The closing reflection captures the entire programme. AI provides the capability. Human leadership creates trust, purpose and performance. Together, they build high-performing teams in the AI era.
